The VA’s Aid & Attendance Pension is designed to provide financial aid for Wartime Veterans and their surviving spouse to offset the costs of long-term care whether that is in-home care, assisted living, or skilled nursing care. It is intended for Vets age 65 and older who need assistance with the daily activities of living such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and transferring. So, unlike VA disability requirements, the underlying health issues do not have to be service-connected.
